BALLADE OF A NON-THEOLOGIAN
Now God The Father may be called The Thought
The Son expressing Him is called The Word
The Holy Spirit is The Voice you caught
Upon the wind and in the mind re-heard
The Father is The Thought behind the bird
Seen symbolizing softly (preens the dove)
Descending then and blending (unabsurd)
The Voice declares: 'Rejoice, The Three are Love'
'We Three are Love', The Voice, The Word, The Thought
Continue, 'And The Thought and Voice and Word
Are consubstantial, Love, and Love is taught
As well as being caught and clearly heard
We are One Lord and God and unabsurd
As Godhead and The King who sits above
The Seraphim'... to Cherubim, restirred,
The Voice declares: 'Rejoice, The Three are Love'
Begetting Love is God The Father, Thought
Begotten Love is God The Son, The Word
And Love Proceeding freely in support
Is vehicle of Yahweh being heard
Or, if you will prefer Him as a bird
The Holy Spirit, gliding like a dove
Descends and, never-endingly restirred,
The Voice declares: 'Rejoice, The Three are Love'
ENVOY
Prince, since the choices Voice and Thought and Word
Are not baptismal terms, The One above
Renders a Twofold shove towards The Third...
The Voice declares: 'Rejoice, The Three are Love'
[poems]
